| Just got home from a 3 week stay at the Rainbow, Nikos & Athena made us very welcome (as usual), we have stayed there many times over the years and consider them amongst our friends. The rooms are basic and clean and you have everything you need and if you haven't just ask and they will provide you with things like toasters, extra pillows, blankets etc. If you don't tell them about any problems you have, they can't put them right. Towels and sheets are changed regularly. The food is good in the snack bar/restaurant and reasonably priced and there are always plenty of sunbeds around the pool. Recommending the Rainbow - great place to stay. Rooms clean, staff friendly, food great.
Love the pool area. Plenty of space, clean and comfortable. We will definately return here!

Hi Yvonne First of all let me apologise for using Blackpool as a comparison for the Rainbow Apartments wrong for me to do so... But I must add to your reply in that you say why I didn’t report to Nikos or Athena what was wrong... Yvonne you need to read my entry through again. How on earth Nikos is going to put right what was wrong is beyond me the place was not up to standard full stop and the repairs would have to be done out of season..... You are missing my point the reports on the Rainbow are very misleading to say the least. It is only right that readers get a balance of views so that they can make a decision based on them... I am not a snob and come from a working background as most who visit the Rainbow do, But having said that I expect after saving all year for a holiday that the basic of a hotel are in place...This is not happening at the Rainbow and I am sure in time a few more will speak out to the fact it is not.. If you personally enjoy the Rainbow fine but after 15 years of travelling around many places in Greece I expect better than we got.. The euro is high against the pound, the cost of everything in Greece is expensive and it is now showing that the rest of Europe have to bail out Greece as they have lived above their means for far to long... I love Greece and the people but they have to wake up and smell the coffee before it is to late.. We all work hard to make a crust and in return we expect a holiday that gives you what it says in the brochure in the case of the Rainbow Apartments this sadly is not happening.. I hope that you have many happy holidays in Zante and in particular in the Rainbow but for me it is not my idea of a holiday... Semper Fidelis

In reply to the last comment I would just like to say, we will be returning to the rainbow for the 2nd year running, if you were not happy with the room why didn't you speak to nikos or athena they would have made sure things were put right. You do get basic but that is what you pay for. If you want 5star maybe you should book a 5 star place. Hi all
Just came back from the Rainbow for a week in October on the recommendations on this place....
Having been going to Greece on holiday for over 15 years I thought I had got away from very basic accommodations...
Firstly I must admit I only paid a average price for the week at the Rainbow but found the rooms as this.
Hand held shower that took a good 5 minutes to warm up in the morning...
The state of the tiles was of a very grubby state and needed a very good clean...(could say very dirty if i was inspecting for a company)
The door into our room had two large glass panels that went straight on to the main corridor, yes it had a pattern but still it was not nice to have people walk pass and see you just come out of the shower.Oh yes the main door had a good 1 inch gap at the bottom !!!!!
The walls were so thin we could all week here the next room talking in bed at what seemed a very quite manner
Balcony looked out on to the owners accommodations that had a plastic sheet over the roof because of the leeks..More like something from a shanty town...
the pool area looked fine but never used it at all...also went the first night for a meal and drink and found the food of a average standard and over price for what it was. (rabbit)
Rooms were cleaned most of the week but under the bed was rubbish from the previous occupants that was still there when we left...
All in all I can not see what people are raving about this place we are now paying good money for below basic standards in Greece and saying it is the Greek way....Sorry don't agree they are part of Europe now we are paying top prices for food and accommodations so start providing it and stop living behind a rustic and friendly place....I can get that in a B&B in Blackpool and that is what I got but with sun....
I expect people will disagree that is fine but please if you agree write a report to that effect and warn people like me to give this place and others like it a wide berth ....
As with the owners yes they were friendly but to me it was a false friendliness over done and getting boring with so many Greeks in the business doing it...

We have been visiting Zante for 5 years and this is our first time at the Rainbow. Absolutely brilliant and the owners Nicos and Athena cannot do enough for you. Anything you need or need to know, they will tell you. The snack bar and bar is reasonably priced and the food, which is freshly prepared is just fabulous. Also the Rainbow Taverna does some of the best authebntic Greek dishes I have ever tasted, all presented brilliantly and with courteous service. The Rainbow is one of the best and we will return next year if only for their fabulous pool and entertainment programme. Dont miss out on this one, it's a great hidden gem of Zakynthos!!!!! Hello, I am new to this site but am soooooo excited! My sister and I will be spending 2 weeks at The Rainbow in august and cannot wait - all the reviews are fantastic
 my sister can pack a bag and go anywhere but I am a little fussier and like to read reviews and see other people's holiday photo's... hence why I booked The Rainbow!If anyone can recommend places to visit, eat, drink etc, that would be great and much appreciated (although I've read The Rainbow's taverna is lovely).
I am very jealous of all who have visited already, but will make sure I make Rainbow virgins like myself, just as jealous when I get back and write a review!!! If anyone is visiting in august - see you there | |

After reading so many great reviews on this website that inspired me to book Rainbow for our stay in Kalamaki, I thought I'd also add my comments. All the expectations we had on arrival were met and exceeded! The Rainbow is just such a great little place for a relaxing holiday, the rooms are very clean and although basic, met our needs as we spent most days by the lovely pool and ate out at night. In my opinion, its the staff and the holidaymakers who stay at this hotel (most are return customers!) who make the whole experience memorable - so much so that you'll want to return year after year. Athena & Nikos are a lovely, friendly couple who are always smiling and making you feel part of place. We ate a few times in the taverna attached to the apartments and the food was authentic and very tasty as well as excellent value for money. Keep doing what you are doing Rainbow, as the whole atmosphere is very special. We will definiately return and I am already recommending you to all my friends! Lynsey & Evelyn xxx | |

| Just arrived back from what has been our best holiday yet, we have just spent 2 weeks at the rainbow, what a lovely place, nikos & athena who run the hotel are a fabulous couple who are only too pleased to help. I must say they put us to shame with their very good english. we have said that we will TRY & learn the greek basics for next year as we will definatly be returning. the apartment is clean and roomy with no complaints. the pool area is fab with plenty of sunbeds. so no fighting over who was laying where!!!! plenty for all . We had some fun on the kareoke nights with roger & julie doing their bit after their days shift at the rainbow. The food was great with plenty to choose from. we also went to michealos's just down the road 5min walk. also had a great meal in heavens kitchen on the main stretch..all in all a great holiday. Best wishes to Nikos & Athena with the forthcoming birth we will keep intouch, love to all. see you next year

| Hello again to Nicos Athena and family Congratulations on the news that Athena is pregnant well done to the both of you. we understand that baby is due in June (you will make great parents) cant wait to see you all again in May. Also I want to thank you for making our 2 stays last year such a great success especially for my birthday in June. I am still recovering !!! Hope things are all now ok after the typhoon. Get the beer and champagne ready for us there are about 14 of us coming again in May and we have Lindas birthday to celebrate and of course the iminent birth. good luck and best wishes from all of us what a great place to stay and eat drink and relax.
